137 judges took the oath of office to the Ukrainian people

Today, the newly appointed judges took the oath of office and assumed their powers during an official ceremony in the presence of the President of Ukraine, the President of the Supreme Court, the Head of the Council of Judges of Ukraine, the Chairman of the High Council of Justice and the Chairman of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine.  

137 judges swore an oath to the Ukrainian people: 121 - general local courts, 7 - administrative courts, and 9 - commercial courts. They were appointed to their positions by the Presidential decrees in July and December of this year.

These judges represent various regions of Ukraine: Vinnytsia - 8, Volyn - 2, Dnipro region - 9, Zhytomyr region - 10, Zakarpattia - 2, Zaporizhzhia - 2, Ivano-Frankivsk region - 7, Kyiv - 9, Kyiv region - 12, Kirovohrad region - 1, Lviv region - 4, Mykolaiv region - 2, Odesa region - 19, Poltava region - 7, Rivne region - 4, Sumy region - 3, Ternopil region - 2, Kharkiv region - 9, Kherson region - 1, Khmelnytsky region - 3, Cherkasy region - 9, Bukovyna - 4, Chernihiv region - 8.

At the previous ceremony, which took place this year in July, 248 local court judges took the oath, including 208 judges of local general courts, 22 of administrative courts, and 18 of commercial courts.

Taking the oath is a requirement of the Law of Ukraine “On the Judicial System and the Status of Judges”. After taking the oath, a judge acquires powers and can administer justice.
