Since the beginning of the year the High Council of Justice has dismissed 231 judges

This is stated in the information and analytical report on the activities of the High Council of Justice and the Disciplinary Chambers of the High Council of Justice for ten months of 2020, prepared by the Division of Statistical and Analytical Work of the HCJ Secretariat.

From January to October 2020, the High Council of Justice decided to dismiss 231 judges. On general grounds 207 judges were dismissed: 206 – in connection with the submission of applications for resignation, 1 – in connection with the submission of an application for voluntary termination of service.

On special grounds 24 judges were dismissed: 20 – for committing a significant disciplinary offense, 4 – as a result of their recognition as a result of the qualification assessment as not corresponding to the position held.

During the same period in 2019, 225 judges were dismissed:

on general grounds 140 judges were dismissed (125 – in connection with the submission of applications for resignation, 14 – in connection with the submission of an application for voluntary termination of service, 1 – due to failure to exercise powers for health reasons);

on special grounds 85 judges were dismissed (58 – for committing a significant disciplinary offense, 1 – due to violation of the requirements for the incompatibility, 26 – by the results of qualification assessment).

It should be reminded that in 2019, the HCJ dismissed 247 judges on various grounds.

Additionally, we inform that as of November 13, 2020, the actual number of judges in the courts of Ukraine is 5363 judges with a determined number of 7295 judges. 4,809 judges have the power to administer justice. The number of vacant judicial positions is 1932.
