The HCJ dismissed four judges for resignation

On June 13, 2023 the HCJ took decision to dismiss two judges under submission of application for resignation:

Fedorenko Yurii Volodymyrovych – from the office of judge of the Economic court of Chernihiv region and Slisarchuk Yaroslav Andriiovych – from the office of judge of Zhytomyr court of appeal.

On June 15, 2023 the HCJ decided to dismiss two judges under submission of application for resignation:

Demchenko Oleksandr Volodymyrovych – from the office of judge of Chernihiv court of appeal and Hruzman Tetiana Volodymyrivna – from the office of judge of the Orzhytskyi district court of Poltava region.

The HCJ members and employees of the Secretariat of the Council joined the charity initiative – blood donation

The HCJ members donated blood for the defenders fighting for Ukraine from russian occupiers. Thus, they make their modest contribution to our common victory.

Employees of the Secretariat continued the charity campaign started by the members of the HCJ on the occasion of the World Blood Donor Day and donated blood at the Blood Service Center of the Ohmatdyt National Children’s Specialized Hospital. Employees shared blood and its components to save the lives of children, including those affected by the war.

At the same time, the HCJ employees donate blood not only as part of the celebration of blood donation day, but throughout the year.

Delegation of the High Council of Justice visited the Council of Europe

Representatives of the delegation, consisting of the HCJ members Hryhorii Usyk, Oksana Blazhivska, Yuliia Bokova, Inna Plakhtii, Olga Popikova, Head of the Legal Department of the Secretariat of the HCJ Mykhailo Shumylo, visited the European Court of Human Rights.

The HCJ determined staffing of the Service of Inspectors of the Secretariat of the HQCJU

On June 15, 2023 the HCJ determined number of inspectors of the Service of Inspectors of the Secretariat of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine – 51 inspectors.

The decision was made at the request of the HQCJU in view of the amount of funding for the activities of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine.

Information for the media

The media reported that “under the procedural leadership of Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office, two former judges of the court of appeal of Donetsk region and Donetsk circuit administrative court were notified in absentia of suspicion of high treason (Part 1, Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)”. According to the investigation, in 2015, the judges remained in the occupied territory and agreed to take up pseudo-positions in the so-called “supreme court of the dpr”.

We inform that on February 9, 2017 the High Council of Justice dismissed Mohutova N.G. from the position of judge of the court of appeal of Donetsk region for committing a significant disciplinary offense. Shumakova Yu.V. was dismissed by the HCJ from the position of judge of Donetsk circuit administrative court on March 2, 2017 for violating the requirements of incompatibility.

The Ljubljana Declaration of the European Network of Councils for the Judiciary sets guidelines for courts

Courts, while remaining committed to the duty to uphold fundamental rights of citizens and the rule of law, must respond appropriately to the new challenges facing society. This is stated in the Ljubljana Declaration that was adopted at the meeting of the General Assembly of the European Network of Councils for the Judiciary (ENCJ).

At a meeting with the Chairman of the HCJ, the Council of Europe experts assured of further support for Ukraine

On June 16, 2023, it was held a working meeting between the High Council of Justice delegation, headed by the Chairman of the HCJ Hryhorii Usyk, and experts from the Council of Europe, Gerhard Reisner (Austria), Nina Betetto (Slovenia), Lorenna Bachmaier-Winter (Spain), Marina Naumovska-Milevska (North Macedonia), Roman Savchuk (Ukraine).

International experts stressed that they are ready to continue to provide their expert assistance in improving legislation in the field of justice. The HCJ Chairman, in turn, expressed his readiness for further close cooperation on international and national platforms.
