On June 3, 2024, the HCJ temporarily, till June 29, 2024, suspended from administering justice the judge of the Verkhniodniprovskyi district court of Dnipropetrovsk region due to bringing the judge to criminal liability.
The decision was made by the results of consideration of the relevant request from the Deputy Prosecutor General – Head of the SAPO.
The judge is suspected of committing a criminal offence, provided by part three of Article 368 of the CC of Ukraine.
HCJ will make submissions to the President of Ukraine on appointing 37 judges to local courts
On June 4, 2024, the HCJ decided to make submissions to the President of Ukraine on appointing 14 judges to positions in local courts. The list is at the link.

HCJ dismissed two judges for committing a significant disciplinary offence
On June 4, 2024, the HCJ made a decision to dismiss the judge of the Rzhyshchevskyi city court of Kyiv region Kozina Svitlana Mykolaivna and the judge of the Kherson circuit administrative court, seconded to the Odesa circuit administrative court, Varniak Serhii Oleksandrovych based on item 3, part six of Article 126 of the Constitution of Ukraine.
8 judges filed for resignation
On June 4, 2024, the HCJ decided to dismiss six judges due to their applications for resignation:

Veitas Inna Viktorivna – from the office of the judge of the Kherson appellate court;

Izotov Viktor Maksymovych – from the office of the judge of the Zavodskyi district court of Dniprodzerzhynsk city of Dnipropetrovsk region;

Hyryla Iryna Markianivna – from the office of the judge of the Commercial court of Ternopil region;
-
Suvorova Oksana Vasylivna – from the office of the judge of the Prymorskyi district court of Odesa;
-
Temnikova Valentyna Ivanivna – from the office of the judge of the Mykolaiv appellate court;
-
Sheliekhova Hanna Valeriivna – from the office of the judge of the Zarichnyi district court of Sumy.
On June 6, 2024, the HCJ decided to dismiss two judges due to their applications for resignation:

Holovan Oksana Viktorivna – from the office of the judge of the Kyiv circuit administrative court;

Tkachenko Oleksandr Vasyliovych – from the office of the judge of the Commercial court of Mykolaiv region.
Judge of the Pishchanskyi district court of Vinnytsia region Shcherba Nadiia Leonidivna, seconded to the Koziatynskyi city district court of Vinnytsia region, was temporarily suspended from administering justice based on the decision of the Third Disciplinary Chamber of the HCJ.
The decision to bring the judge to disciplinary liability and apply a disciplinary penalty to her in the form of submission for dismissal from the office was made by the Third Disciplinary Chamber of the HCJ on June 5, 2024.
A list of candidates for position of HQCJU member has been published
The Selection Commission on selection candidates for positions of members of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine provided the list of candidates for the HQCJU member to publish on the official website of the High Council of Justice.
The list includes 28 candidates.
This was part of the speech of the Chairman of the HCJ Hryhorii Usyk during the VІІ Kyiv polylogue “Ukraine anti-corruption legal platform: provision of the right to a fair trial”, that took place in the Supreme Court on June 7, 2024.
Hryhorii Usyk noted that the HQCJU and HCJ await tough, intense and responsible work to ensure the formation of a decent and highly professional judicial corps.
“As of June 1, 2024, the High Council of Justice made 249 submissions to the President of Ukraine on appointing judges. The President of Ukraine signed decrees on appointing 114 judges. We intend to fulfill our responsibility regarding prompt consideration of issues regarding appointing judges till autumn”, – said the Chairman of the HCJ.
Consultations dedicated to discussing proposals and comments to the draft Regulation on the procedure of passing qualification exam and methodology of candidates evaluation took place at the HQCJU on June 7, 2024.
The working meeting was attended by HCJ members Serhii Burlakov, Vitalii Salikhov, Oleksandr Sasevych, HQCJU members Mykhailo Bohonis, Yaroslav Dukh, Oleksii Omelian, Roman Sabodash, Serhii Chumak. Judges, members of the CJU, representatives of the NSJU, representatives of public organizations and other authors of proposals and comments on the draft Regulation participated in the discussion online.
First and foremost HCJ must ensure the authority of justice
This was said by the HCJ member Oleksii Melnyk during the VІІ Kyiv polylogue “Ukraine anti-corruption legal platform: provision of the right to a fair trial”, that took place in the Supreme Court.
Oleksii Melnyk noted that the role of the HCJ in ensuring the right to a fair consideration of cases in court consists of fulfilling such powers as a selection of highly professional and honest judges, protection of their independence, bringing them to disciplinary liability, and also provision of advisory opinions regarding draft laws in justice sphere, and even appointment of heads of judicial bodies that provide courts with all the necessities for administering efficient and qualitative justice.
HCJ member Oksana Kvasha informed that currently at the HCJ operates a working group on developing Unified indicators for the evaluation of integrity and professional ethics of a judge (candidate to the position of a judge). The working group includes members of the HCJ, HQCJU, PIC, and international projects experts.
