Dear fellow citizens, the High Council of Justice congratulates you on the national holiday - Constitution Day of Ukraine!
Fundamental for the state, the Basic Law demonstrates that Ukraine is European state in its essence and values, with a thousand-year legal tradition.
The gaining by Ukraine the status of a candidate for the European Union membership testifies to the inevitability of the European course of our state enshrined in the Constitution, recognition at the international level of the important role and place of our country in the community.
Ukrainian constitutionalism has deep roots. The modern Constitution was preceded by outstanding documents of the past – “Ruska Pravda” by Yaroslav the Wise, the first in Europe Constitution of Hetman Pylyp Orlyk, the idea of the Constituent Assembly of the times of the Ukrainian People’s Republic.
The adoption of the Basic Law marked the fundamental consolidation of our independence, forever imprinted the will of the Ukrainian people to live in their own sovereign, conciliar state. The Constitution emphasizes the absolute value of a person, his/her life and health, honour and dignity, inviolability and security.
For today, Ukrainian soldiers are fighting to ensure the norms of the Constitution should be applied throughout the territory of free Ukraine. We support them and sincerely believe in their victory and the establishment of the principles of the Basic Law of Ukraine on the liberated lands.
Happy holiday, Happy Constitution Day!
Glory to Ukraine!
