The General Assembly of the European Network of Councils for the Judiciary adopted decision on granting observer status to the High Council of Justice. This was announced by the HCJ Chairman Hryhorii Usyk, who was present at the meetings of the Assembly in the city of Ljubljana, the Republic of Slovenia. This landmark decision was taken in response to an appeal of the High Council of Justice.
According to Hryhorii Usyk, this decision is extremely important towards the integration of Ukraine into the European Union.
“Cooperation with the European Network of Councils for the Judiciary is a unique opportunity to establish direct contacts with representatives of more than twenty councils of justice in the EU countries and candidate countries for the EU membership to exchange experience and best practices on the functioning of the judiciary,” Hryhorii Usyk noted.
The HCJ considers the European Network of Councils for the Judiciary as a unique platform within the framework of which the Council will have the opportunity to study European experience and share its own experience across the whole range of issues related to the activities of the judiciary in order to increase the efficiency of its work and ensure human rights in Ukraine.
For information. The European Network of Councils for the Judiciary was established in 2004. This is a body that unites all councils of justice of the European Union Member States and represents those in the EU. It consists of the European Union Member States' public institutions that are independent and responsible for providing support to the judiciary in the independent administration of justice.
