
In an interview with the British Institute of International and Comparative Law, the Deputy Chairman of the High Council of Justice Dmytro Lukianov spoke about the participation of the representatives of the judiciary in a bilateral meeting between representatives of Ukraine and the European Commission on the official screening of the compliance of Ukrainian legislation with EU law under negotiating chapter 23 “Judiciary and Fundamental Rights”, which took place on September 17, 2024.
The Deputy Chairman of the High Council of Justice mentioned about preparations for this important meeting, cooperation with other state authorities and key points of the bilateral negotiations.
Dmytro Lukianov emphasized the importance of Ukraine's cooperation with the European Commission and informed about the peculiarities of the work of the High Council of Justice and courts after the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into the territory of Ukraine, as well as judicial reform.
The Deputy Chairman of the High Council of Justice raised such issues as the priority of ensuring institutional continuity of judicial governance bodies, creation of a new institution of disciplinary responsibility of judges, improvement of financial support of the judicial system, efficient use of resources, and continuing digitalization of the judicial system.
