Judicial bodies of Spain, Hungary and Latvia expressed their support to the people of Ukraine

The Permanent Commission of the Spanish General Council for the Judiciary, the National Judicial Council of Hungary and the Judicial Council of Latvia condemned the military invasion in Ukraine, committed in gross violation of international law, contrary to fundamental human rights, and expressed their support to judges, legal community and to the people of Ukraine

The Permanent Commission of the Spanish General Council for the Judiciary supported the statement of the European Network of Councils for the Judiciary and the Network of Presidents of the Supreme Courts of the European Union and noted the need for an immediate cessation of military aggression against Ukraine. In addition, the Commission expressed its proper support and solidarity to the High Council of Justice and all the judiciary in these terrible times, noting that democracy and freedom will always prevail over irrational and despotic force.  

         The National Judicial Council of Hungary also supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine in accordance with international law and expresses its solidarity with the people of Ukraine in the struggle for national independence.

         Colleagues from Hungary have sympathized with the Ukrainian judges and lawyers and called on the Hungarian legal community to support Ukraine during the aggression, which violates the general principles of international law and human rights.

         The Judicial Council of Latvia unanimously adopted resolution strongly supporting Ukraine, its sovereignty and territorial integrity in accordance with international law.  The resolution has condemned the military attack of the Russian Federation on Ukraine and emphasized Russia’s violation of Article 2 (4) of the United Nations Charter.
