
Exactly two months have passed since the Selection Commission posted the list of candidates admitted to the competition for the position of a member of the High Qualifications Commission of Judges of Ukraine. All the while, the Commission has been working on the analysis of the documents submitted by the candidates.
During this time, members of the Selection Commission studied 13,828 documents, including about 1,500 property declarations and about 300 informational statements from public organizations. Moreover, in response to the Selection Commission's requests, the candidates provided, and the Commission analyzed more than 640 additional explanatory documents.
Each submitted document is carefully reviewed, taking into account relevant information from open sources, so that the Commission can form a list of 64 best candidates who will be admitted to the next stage of the competition – interviews.
To determine the best candidates, the Selection Commission adheres to the approved Methodology for assessing candidates' compliance with the criteria of integrity and professional competence.
This work is carried out daily, as well as at the meeting of the members of the Selection Commission in Poland, which took place in November. By the end of December, the first stage of the competition will be completed and a list of candidates admitted to the next stage will be formed.
It should be reminded that the Selection Commission was established to select candidates for the positions of members of the HQCJU on the basis of a transparent competition. The competition shall be held on the basis of the rule of law, professionalism, publicity and political neutrality in two stages. At the first stage, based on the results of consideration of the documents submitted by the candidates, the results of a special check and relevant information from open sources, a list of candidates admitted to the interview will be formed.
At the second stage, an interview with the selected candidates will be held, by the result of which the Selection Commission shall select and submit for consideration of the High Council of Justice at least two candidates for each of 16 vacancies recommended to the High Council of Justice for appointment. The High Council of Justice will appoint 16 members of the HQCJU.
